SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

Information is available in the Guidance Office for the following:

PHEAA - PA New Economy Technology Scholarship (Nets) Program - 2 different scholarships available - SCITECH SCHOLARSHIPS and TECHNOLOGY SCHOLARSHIPS were established to prepare PA students to succeed in the technology-based economy of the 21st century and to reduce the migration of PA's young people to other states.  Information is available in the Guidance Office.

 

Somerset Hospital Auxiliary - The Somerset Hospital Auxiliary is now taking applications for its annual Nursing Scholarship Program.  The $500 scholarships are available to Somerset County residents pursuing a career as a Registered Nurse at a NLN or CCNE accredited school of nursing.  Applications are available in the Guidance Office.

 

Somerset County Builders Association - Scholarships for students to further their education in the building trades.  The eligible trades are:  Carpentry, Masonry, Plumbing, H.V.A.C., C.A.D.D., Cabinetry, Electrical, Excavator, Estimator and Landscaping.

 

G.H. Miller Scholarship Registration - Registration forms are available in the Guidance office.

 

Rockwood Rotary Scholarships:  Rules of Eligibility.  Potential recipient must be, at the time of application, a senior at Rockwood Area High School who has maintained a cumulative grade point average, beginning at their Freshman year, of 3.5 or higher.  The cumulative grade point average will be verified in writing by the high school guidance counselor.  Applications are available in the Guidance Office.

Camp Cadet - Camp Cadet is a program for boys and girls who have an interest in law enforcement and related fields.  Offered to youth ages 13 through 15 years old, who are residents of Somerset County.  Youth cannot have a criminal record and must be in good physical condition.  The camp is FREE.  Applications are available in the Guidance Office.

 

SUMMER SCHOOL

 

Greater Johnstown Middle School will be offering Summer School.  Cost is $140.00 per course.  The following courses will be offered:  English, Am. History, World Culture, Gov/Civics, Algebra 1-11, Gen. Math, Pre-Algebra, Geometry, Gen. Science, Phys. Science, Chemistry, Biology, Life Science, Reading, Phys. Ed., Trigonometry, Earth Science.  Applications are available in the Guidance Office.  Dates - June 13 to July 3, 2008.
