High School Announcements
MONDAY, May 12, 2008 – Day 2
GUIDANCE OFFICE:
1.
Check the
showcase by the Guidance Office or the Rockwood Schools Web Page for the
following information: Test Dates, Open House, Scholarship Information, and
College Visitations.
2.
Third 9 weeks
Honor Roll is posted in the hallway.
3.
Greater
Johnstown Middle School will be offering Summer School. Cost is $140.00 per
course. The following courses will be offered: English, American History,
World Cultures, Gov/Civics, Algebra I & II, General Math, Pre Algebra,
Geometry, General Science, Physical Science, Chemistry, Biology, Life
Science, Reading,
Phys Ed, Trigonometry, Earth Science. Applications are available in the
Guidance Office. Dates June 13 to July 3, 2008.
HIGH SCHOOL OFFICE:
1.
All excuses are due in the High School Office three days after an
absence or tardy or they will be marked illegal.
2.
The Nurse will be at Kingwood on Wednesday mornings until 11:00 a.m.
3.
Students are reminded not to
arrive at school before 7:45 a.m. Students arriving between 7:45 – 8:00 a.m.
should report to the main lobby. Students are not permitted in the hallways
or lockers.
4.
Students must have a note signed
by their parents, signed and approved by the High School Office in order for
them to ride another bus or get off with another student, who must also have
a note signed by their parent and approved at the office. There are no
exceptions!!!!
5.
Students are reminded to follow
the Dress Code with the length of shorts below fingertips of extended arms
and the straps on tank tops no less than 2 inches. Refer to your student
handbook on Page 36 and 37.
6.
Any senior who is going to
further their education beyond high school at any accredited, post secondary
school in any technical or business field should see Mr. King about the
Barbara Stoner Memorial Award. Applications are due to Mr. King at 3:30 p.m.
on May 23, 2008.
New
Announcements:
1.
The River & Rails Festival Queen
Committee is looking for a 2008 Queen. Any girl interested between the ages
of 15-18 (by January 1st) and living in the Rockwood School
District can compete for the title. The Queen and her court will be crowned
on Friday, June 20, 2008. Applications may be picked up in the High School
Office or by calling Darlene at 814-279-4798. The committee must receive
completed applications by Friday, May 15th.
2.
The Farmer’s & Threshermen’s
Jubilee Queen Contest Committee is looking for a NEW Queen. Any girl
interested between the ages of 16-18 and living in the Rockwood School
District can compete for the title. The Queen and her court will be crowned
on September 3, 2008. Those interested should sign up in the office. Any
questions contact Nicole Hersh at 814-233-5030.
3.
Attention all students and
faculty: All library books are due on May 21st. Please return
books promptly. The library will be closed for the year to study hall
students beginning on May 27th for inventory purposes.
4.
Those students who submitted to
InkBlot please see Miss Eaton for your personal copy of InkBlot. Teachers,
please announce to your classes that you have a classroom copy for them to
look at.
5.
Anyone planning on attending the
Prom are reminded that they must be present in school on Friday and have all
detentions served.
6.
Reminder – Anyone bringing a
student from another school to the Prom will need to have the dance
permission form pre-approved.
7.
Attention all seniors – there
will be a mandatory meeting on Wednesday, May 14th in the library
during ninth period.
