School Closings, Delays & Early Dismissals
  • School Closings, Delays & Early Dismissals

The decision to delay the opening of school, dismiss early, or close school for the day due to weather conditions is never an easy one. Our priority is always the safety of the children.
When Rockwood is forced to close or delay schools or to dismiss students early due to inclement weather or other emergency conditions, that information is reported here, on the district website, and on local radio and television stations. Parents are asked to please try to avoid calling the school offices for this information since it is important to keep phone lines free in case of emergency.

The following stations carry emergency announcements:

    TELEVISION STATIONS: WJAC and WTAJ
RADIO STATIONS: WKYE, WFGI, WJHT, WRKW, WNTJ, WQZS, WFRB, and WWCP

Have a plan for early dismissals:

When there's an early dismissal due to bad weather, No matter what grade level your children are, parents are reminded to make sure that all school-age children know what to do in case of an early dismissal. Make arrangements with a sitter, neighbor, friend, or relative who can be called on in such situations - and review your plans with your children on a regular basis.
