Return to in-person instruction
The Rockwood Area School Board approved returning elementary students to in-person instruction on Monday, January 25th. In addition, a small number of targeted junior-senior high school students will return to in-person instruction as well. More details of the plan to return to in-person instruction will be shared throughout the next two weeks. However, the return to in-person instruction requires students and staff to comply with the most recent face-covering order issued by the State. Furthermore, the District will be required to follow the State's recommendations for closing schools in the future when there are positive cases of COVID.
The Junior-senior high school students will remain in remote learning for several more weeks with a tentative date to return to in-person instruction on Monday, February 8th.
The Rockwood Area School Board also updated the District's practices and procedures for complying with the face-covering order. Students and staff members who qualify for a face mask exception will be required to provide written notification. Individuals who qualify for an exception will be required to wear a face shield as an alternative to a face mask. Students and staff members who are unable to wear a face shield will be required to provide written documentation from a physician. An updated face-covering exemption form will be provided to families next week.
