We extend a heartfelt thank you to our students for showcasing their remarkable talents to our school and community. We love to see you shine!

Rockwood was honored to welcome Robin Moore as our distinguished guest on Author Day

For more than 40 years, Mr. Moore has been dedicated to creating stories through both spoken and written word, assisting children and families in uncovering their own storytelling traditions. His books frequently highlight themes of nature and the outdoors as central elements. Students from kindergarten through sixth grade participated in a day filled with nature-themed activities. Mr. Moore engaged the students by sharing his stories, which were received with great enthusiasm and participation. Additional activities included special music lessons, craft sessions, fishing tales, Big Foot drawing, maple syrup demonstrations, and discussions with a Ranger from the Flight 93 memorial and a representative from the Wounded Warrior Project. The event also featured an activity where students constructed primitive homes using snacks as materials.

Spring chicks bring lots of smiles!

Rockwood High School offers distinctive opportunities for its students through its integrated animal science classes. Recently, Mrs. Wiemer’s first-period animal science class experienced the hatching of their spring chicks, an event that garnered significant interest from the student body. The newly hatched chicks were introduced to first-grade students, who responded with utter joy.

Each year, Mrs. Wiemer’s class hatches approximately 100 chicks throughout the year. The process begins with receiving fertilized eggs, which the class then incubates. Students are responsible for nurturing and caring for the chicks until they are ready to be rehomed, frequently with the students or community members interested in adoption.

Mrs. Wiemer highlights her students as her favorite aspect of teaching at Rockwood. She also leads the Future Farmers of America (FFA) organization, noting the students’ strong leadership qualities and active participation as valuable assets to the program.

We were represented by Jim Summers, who generously donated $3,814.88 to purchase a new Lincoln Electric SMAW 208 3-phase welder!

The new stick welder will increase the hands-on class time for students to learn and apply skills and lessen the time spent waiting for their turn to weld. With your generosity our students will benefit greatly.
