Dear Rockwood Families,

It is with great sadness that we share the news that Christy Hay, teacher and librarian, passed away earlier this evening.

Christy was a dedicated educator who cared deeply about students and took great pride in helping them learn and grow. She made a meaningful impact on many lives and will be remembered for her kindness, commitment, and the positive influence she had on our school community.

Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with Christy’s family, friends, colleagues, and students during this very difficult time.

We understand that this news may be upsetting for students. School counselors and support staff will be available to provide assistance and support for any student who may need it. Families are encouraged to reach out to the school if additional support is needed.  The District will operate on a 2-hour delay tomorrow to give families the opportunity to talk with their children before coming to school.
