Welcome to Art!

My name is Gena Fritz, and I am the elementary art teacher at Rockwood Area School District! Let's Go Rockets!!! To say that I am excited is an understatement! This is my first year teaching and I cannot wait to see all the masterpieces we will create! I am all about repurposing and recycling, so the possibilities are endless for what materials we may be using when creating art.  

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family, creating art, crafting, thrift shopping, listening to music, and going to car shows. 

This year in art, we will use and explore a wide variety of mediums that will range from pencil, colored pencil, washable tempera paint, watercolors, oil pastels, chalk pastels, chalk, crayon, markers, yarn, etc. As I had mentioned earlier, I am all about repurposing and recycling, so who knows where are our art adventures will take us. I am also hoping to use some mixed media materials, such as magazines/newspapers, plastic bottles, wood, old CD's/DVD's, and various other materials. Each class will be learning about different art concepts and techniques. Art history will be an important part of our class as it is so important to keep those great works and artists alive. It also helps each of us to look back in time and serves as an inspiration for the future. 

I am looking forward to the 2025-2026 school year and cannot wait to see what we can all create!
