About Me
Hello,
My name is Mrs. Bates. I have been teaching music for 11 years now, seven years here at Rockwood. I started playing music when I was 10 years old and been studying music for 28 years. I am always learning in my own musical path and always learning how to teach better.
My main instrument is trumpet but always play a lot of piano. I took private trumpet and piano lessons during my junior high and high school years. I have a B.S in music education and Master in music performance, trumpet being my main focus. I have been able to perform and tour Europe, perform at the International trumpet competetion and perform as a semi-finalist at the National Trumpet Competition. Currently, I am a freelance music and lead our church praise team, playing piano.
Besides for music, I love farming and agriculture. I help on my parents dairy farm, mostly raising the calves, I help with milking cows, other farm chores. Sometimes help with field work during harvest time. I own mostly jersey cows and I have a few lineback/jersey crosses. I like gardening and to can the produce from the garden. In my spare time, I like to read, work out, clean, relax, go for walks and spend time with my husband and outside.

8:05-10:20- Elementary instrument lessons
10:25-12:25: Junior high instrument lessons and 6th period high school band.
12:51-1:35- Jr. high band
1:38-2:18- Sr. high band
2:20- 2:51- Homeroom lessons, club, or elementary band.
